The Art Institute of Chicago

Located in the heart of Grant Park, the museum houses one of the world's finest collections of Impressionist and modern art.

Built in 1893, the Art Institute of Chicago's collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art is second only to the Musée d'Orsay in Paris.

Designed by architect Renzo Piano, the ‘Modern Wing' contains the third largest collection of modern art in the world, after those of the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the MoMA in New York.

The Architecture and Design department includes more than 250,000 architectural models, drawings and fragments, dating from 1870 to the present, and including works by starchitect names like David Adler, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Frank Lloyd Wright.
