Niagara, without Marilyn Monroe

Niagara, without Marilyn Monroe

Ontario and New York State share the Niagara Falls, a Mecca of tourism for more than a century, but it is Canada that has the most beautiful falls: the Horse shoe.

Less than a two-hour drive from downtown Toronto, Niagara Falls is one of the most famous natural sites in the world.

As part of a day trip, there are a number of different tours leaving from Toronto. You can also organize your own transportation either by direct train with VIA Rail, by train and bus with Go Transit, or by bus with Mega Bus. A ferry ride on the Maid of the Mist into the heart of the tumult of Horseshoe Falls is possible from April to September, which generally corresponds to the most crowded season. Go up the Skylon Tower at a height of 236 meters for a panoramic view, or dine in the tower's revolving restaurant on a summer weekend to see the dazzling fireworks.

Helicopter flights offer a particularly dramatic view of the falls. You can also test your nerves with Aero Cars, a cable car that crosses over the turbulent eddies.
