LuluRouget, starred and affordable

LuluRouget, starred and affordable

One of the very best restaurants in town, run by chef Ludovic Pouzelgues. It offers market-based cuisine to the utmost.

After making a name for itself in the city centre, LuluRouget moved a stone's throw from the famous machines of the Île de Nantes, looking to renew itself. The enterprise was met with success since the restaurant was awarded its first Michelin star! But the glory has not modified the spirit not the drive of chef Ludovic Pouzelgues. Born in Nantes, he undertook to modernize market-based cuisine in a setting that would be closer to a bistro restaurant.

LuluRouget switches white tablecloths and silverware for a raw and industrial yet welcoming style, bringing together stone, wood and concrete, for a result as cosy as it is contemporary. With affordable pricing, especially for a starred restaurant, it is tempting to indulge in the “Eyes Shut” 4, 5 or 6-course menus that all depend on the current culinary inspirations of their maker. The only standard is called Petit Lulu (a nod to the Nantes biscuit), with parmesan and marrow or green peas and mint appetizers, according to the season. Faithful to the teachings of his mentor Michel Troisgros, Ludovic Pouzelgues adds a slight pinch of sourness to his dishes that sublimates all flavours. As for what comes next, you can have blind faith in the chef's prowess…
