Local Edition, a bar with the atmosphere of a speakeasy

Escape for an evening in a San Franciscan subterranean hideaway to enjoy delicious forbidden cocktails.

Prohibition is over in the United States, but some addresses keep this secret that surrounded bars. Located in the basement of a building in a former newspaper printing press, Local Edition is among such speakeasies. It has built upon the place's history by scattering vintage paper presses and clippings here and there. Its 1950s decor, with dim lighting and jazz music, immerses you directly in a special atmosphere. In addition, you will have to keep your eyes peeled to get there. The entrance, located on Market Street, is not easy to find. Small clue: turn to the clock in the window of number 691.
Make your way to the bar to order one of the many cocktails that the
bartenders craft to perfection. The Bad Moon Ryesing, made of Suze, lime, lychee shrub and vanilla and cinnamon infused Laphroaig, is excellent, as is the Mother Superior, composed of San Francisco's very own Junipero gin, lemon juice, coriander, tonic and grapefruit peel – as always, to be consumed in moderation!
