Before you even stepped inside, La Petite Maison catches the eye as you walk around the streets of Cayenne. Everything about this colourful and typically Creole building oozes authenticity. Entirely renovated while being converted into a bistronomic restaurant, it offers a mesmerizing setting, absolutely charming and worth the detour in itself!
Start off the proceedings with serene pre-dinner drinks on the peaceful terrace, before moving inside the house. For a romantic dinner, ask for one of the more intimate tables on the first floor - the staff is especially attentive and caring with passing patrons. Once settled, a ballet of gastronomic proportions will dazzle you: sea bass steak in smoked fish crust, crispy weakfish in vegetarian hot pepper cream, or a steak of king mackerel served with sweet potato dumplings, topped with hot sauce chien using green condiments… Modernised Creole flavours await aplenty! Most importantly, each dish is neatly displayed in careful servings. The restaurant revisits Guianese cuisine with contemporary overtones that turn it into fine art.
