In the heart of Copenhagen, surrounded by the Royal Danish Theatre, the Opera and the Amalienborg Palace, Hotel Sanders takes up a large 19th-century townhouse. Inside, decoration subtly harks back to the stage world, especially through the various photographs that adorn the walls. And with good reason, for hotel owner Alexander Kølpin was a national figure of the art scene, and awarded world best ballet dancer in 1993.
Alexander loves to bring out Danish cultural heritage with slight touches. The common parts of his boutique hotel unveil minimalist and cosy decoration that mixes marble and wood, enlivened with a few expressionist paintings. As for the rooms, they showcase a hybrid style, between a retro bistro and contemporary design. If some of them are connected (an ideal solution for travelling families), they most importantly bring hygge - the Scandinavian art of living - to another level, in which you will definitely feel just like home.
